  • What sets Medical Massage Apart?

Medical massage may not be widely known or available in the modern health care landscape, but it’s roots run deep in western medicine. It is a fundamentally conservative approach that is an effective adjunct to many surgical or pharmacological treatments, or alongside physical therapy and chiropractic. In fact, medical massage is an effective primary choice for certain muscular or pain conditions. It is NOT the latest trendy fad.

At the most basic level, medical massage is the highly controlled use of pressure and scientifically sound massage modalities like vibration, friction, & PNF stretching to control pain, reset the firing threshold of pain receptors, and balance the autonomic nervous system. It is provided as a course of treatment with the goal of getting clinically stable results.

Practitioners have advanced training in client assessment and massage techniques. They can apply protocols for established diagnoses, or the can employ careful observation to identify the most likely source of pain. They then tailor clinically-based massage protocols to the case at hand.

We will contact the client’s doctor for approval before beginning a course of treatment, can provide specifics for any protocol, and keep detailed notes.
