At MassageNetics, lymphatic care is individualized to your needs—whether you are experiencing swelling, seeking support for lymphatic wellness, or have been referred for specialized care.

What is Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialized, gentle technique that uses light, rhythmic movements to encourage the natural movement of lymphatic fluid through the body.

Unlike traditional massage, MLD does not rely on deep pressure or vigorous manipulation of the muscles. Instead, carefully directed movements work with the superficial lymphatic vessels located just beneath the skin, helping support the body's natural lymphatic circulation.

Your lymphatic system plays an important role in maintaining fluid balance, transporting immune cells, and returning excess fluid from the tissues to the bloodstream. When lymphatic flow is disrupted or overwhelmed, fluid may accumulate in the tissues and contribute to swelling or feelings of heaviness.

At MassageNetics, Manual Lymphatic Drainage is never approached as a one-size-fits-all treatment. Each session is adapted to your individual needs, health history, and reason for seeking lymphatic care.

How Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Supports Your Body

Your lymphatic system works continuously to help maintain fluid balance, transport immune cells, and move excess fluid from your tissues back into circulation. Unlike your cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system does not have a central pump like the heart. It relies on muscle movement, breathing, and the natural contractions of lymphatic vessels to help move lymph.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses gentle, precisely directed movements to support this natural process.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage for swelling and fluid management

Swelling & Fluid Management

MLD may help support the movement of excess fluid when swelling or fluid accumulation is present and lymphatic treatment is appropriate.

Manual Lymphatic Drainage for comfort and mobility

Comfort & Mobility

Swelling and tissue congestion can contribute to feelings of tightness, heaviness, or restricted movement. Supporting fluid movement may help clients feel more comfortable.

Manual Lymphatic Wellness for overall health

Overall Lymphatic Wellness

MLD can also be used as part of an individualized wellness approach for clients seeking gentle support for healthy lymphatic function.

Lymphatic care should be individualized. At MassageNetics, your health history, current symptoms, goals, and—when applicable—your physician's recommendations help determine the most appropriate approach to your session.

Who May Benefit from Manual Lymphatic Drainage?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage may be appropriate for individuals experiencing changes in fluid movement, swelling, or lymphatic function, as well as those seeking specialized support for lymphatic wellness.

At MassageNetics, lymphatic care is individualized. Your health history, current concerns, and goals help determine whether MLD is appropriate and how your session should be structured.

Post - Surgical Clients

When medically appropriate, MLD may support fluid management, comfort, and healing during post-surgical recovery.
