Your lymphatic system is a vital part of both your immune and circulatory systems. This network of vessels, lymph nodes, and organs helps move lymphatic fluid throughout the body, return excess tissue fluid to the bloodstream, support immune function, and transport certain fats from the digestive system.
Unlike your cardiovascular system, the lymphatic system does not have a central pump like the heart. Lymph movement is supported by muscle activity, breathing, body movement, and the natural contractions of lymphatic vessels.
Did You Know?
Your lymphatic system works continuously throughout the day—even though most people rarely think about it until swelling or another lymphatic concern develops.
